The Gilbert and Sullivan
'50 Club'

As a means of raising additional funds for the society and of having a bit of fun at the same time, the society operates a '50 CLUB'. Here's how it all works...

Every member or patron of the society, their families, friends (anyone!) is invited to select a G&S character name from a list of 50. The characters are entered into a draw each month and the owner of a character(s) chosen could win up to £40!

How the 50 Club operates

  • Each character name costs £12 per year.
  • The fee is collected twice a year (£6 each time) although you can pay the whole amount at once.
  • There are 50 character names available giving a total possible 'fund' of £600. A large part of the funds raised will be returned to the members as prizes; the remainder will go to the Societies funds.
  • Applications received after all 50 names have been allocated will be placed on a waiting list until such time as a place/character becomes available.
  • Prize money is distributed as follows:
    For 10 months:
    (Not March or October)
    TWO prizes - £15 and £5
    March and October:
    ('Show months')
    ONE MAJOR PRIZE - £40
  • All allocated names will be put into a draw from which the winner(s) will be selected at random. The 'normal' draws will be made at the rehearsal on the 3rd Monday of each month, but in October and March the single winning character will be drawn on the last night of each show.
